2021 Valedictory Speech

2021 was a difficult year for many Canberrans as a result of COVID-19, the pandemic response, and a host of non-pandemic-related issues. 2021 was a year of personal tragedy for my family, the impact of which will be lifelong. I want others who struggle to know that they are not alone.

I don’t have all the answers, but the following things helped me and my family face our deep challenge: 1) staying active, 2) talking to others, and 3) investing in ourselves. I shared these things in my valedictory speech in the Assembly today as well as my hope that the future will be brighter for all of us.
